CEFF/Airflo Bank Fly-Fishing Open 2005
20th May 2005
The CEFF/Airflo Bank Fly Fishing Open is the biggest and best sponsored bank fly-fishing competition in the UK. The second North-West Regional heat is on Bessy Beck Trout Fishery on Friday 20th May. You can enter either as an individual, or as a team of three, or both. The Competition Entry Fee is £15.00, either as a team member or as an individual, or £12 for every subsequent entry (in later Heats). You can enter as many heats as you want individually, but only once as a team member. Fishing Permit fees must be paid along with the Competition Entry Fee. At least one team and three individuals will qualify to go forward to the Regional Final on Stocks reservoir in June. The National Final will be held at Elinor Fishery in Northamptonshire on 9th October. Every entrant will receive a sponsored selection of fly-fishing accessories and voucher, with a value exceeding the cost of entry. There are prizes at Regional and National Final level, for both individuals and teams. The rules are simple and are essentially the fishery rules with a few minor alterations to bring the competition more in line with the competitions leading to selection of the England Team and fishing in Internationals. Each competitor may kill two fish, for weighing at the end of the match, with catch and release thereafter. A set of rules will be sent to each entrant. The lakes will be closed to the public on the day of the competition and will be pegged out for the Bank Open competitors, limited to 16 in this Heat. Each competitor will fish from the whole range of pegs through the course of the day. The lakes will be very well stocked for the competition with rainbow trout from 1lb to 7lb, and some blue trout.
