Tebay Angling Association
16th February 2008

The temperature fell to -8 degrees on Friday night and the Island Lake was half frozen over on the Saturday morning. The other half of the lake was kept open by running aerators. The anglers decided to hold the competition, knowing space would be restricted, but limited the time to 3hours.
Ten anglers took part and a total of 13 fish were caught. Martin Smith was the winner with five fish. Ali Potter was second with four and Arthur Lawton third with two. The best fish was a 10lb blue trout caught by Karl Haygarth. The most productive fly of the day was the red bloodworm.
