Angling Report
Mid October 2005
Angling at Bessy Beck is now back to its best, with breezy days and cooler
temperatures.
Larger fish, which, during the summer months were difficult to catch are
now showing and being caught. Fishing is best between 10.00am and 2.00
pm with fish rising for surface flies throughout this period.
Best flies have been CDC buzzers, epoxy buzzers and any type of black
lure. On the surface Daddies are now not so popular with the fish, black
klinkhammers seem to be the best imitation of the small black flies on
the surface.
The largest fish so far this month, a 10.8lb rainbow caught by Mr Morris
from Leicester; he was using a black CDC buzzer. Kevin Alderson from Ravenstonedale
had a 10.6lb and 9lb rainbow on consecutive visits using a black lure.
John France from Penrith caught 10 fish, the largest 8.8lb on the 10th
October on a black buzzer.
The largest individual catch of 21 was by Mr Hallworth on the 15th of
October using a CDC buzzer. Mr Greer had 17 fish the same day. Mr Owen
from St Helens caught an 8.4lb rainbow on the 17th using a Bobs Bits.
A competition is to be held early in December to mark to opening of Beckside
Tackle Shop at Bessy Beck. Beckside Tackle shop will stock a wide range
of game angling equipment.
Bessy Beck remains open until the end of December, then is closed during
January and re opening on the 1st Feb 2006.
