Angling Report

Mid November 2006

Night frosts at the beginning of November reduced water temperatures resulting in the fish being more active and interested in a wide variety of flies. Although small black dry flies are still successful the majority of fish are being caught on buzzers and bloodworm. The best lures are Dawson's olive and Appetizer.

The best fish of the month 7lb 1oz was caught by Mr Till from Stoke on Trent using a size 12 CDC emerger. Other notable catches were by Mr Raj from Manchester who caught and returned 15 fish using black buzzer and bloodworm, Chris Doyle from Penrith caught and returned 27 using a size 10 Appetizer and on a very difficult day Mr Salter from Preston returned 14 using buzzers.

Bessy Beck will not close at all this Winter except for Christmas day and Boxing day. As always during bad weather, particularly freezing conditions it pays to ring ahead to book incase of the lakes being frozen. Bessy Beck wishes all our customers a very happy new year.

Regards, Ian and Shelley
